ode to a fried pork steak

Goddess of grease
You are perfect

The most real of all the cooked meats
Much like your creator, Obi-Wan
There's no hidden agenda
No falseness
No flim-flam
No back-stabbing

Realness

Goddess of grease
We are perfect together

odes to comfort food? oh dear!

this is your blog and all...and i can understand your viewpoint on the tracts. but, i do not understand why you have to call a group of people assholes. it does not seem to be a loving approach or a helpful one. are they sinning or just doing something that you do not agree with. none of us are perfect and we are only saved by grace. so even if you have had comments that are also not loving, and feel like an attack, that does not need to give you a reason to not think about your own actions and thoughts. someone else's wrong does not automatically make us right.

and someone else being right about one thing does not make them right about everything.

Not to start something, but I remember Jesus whipping out the name calling himself.

"Brood of vipers", anyone?

Don't think he was doing it to feel better about himself, either, but rather to name what was going on around him.

As for the pork steak, ah, B, good thing I already like you and yours or this could very well be a deal breaker for our friendship ;)

Nancy - First of all, Obi-Wan's fried pork steak is not "comfort food". How insulting! It is indeed excellence in food form.

Second, I know I crossed the line by calling anyone anything. Especially asshole. I've avoided such actions in the past. And you read what you sow. So keep an eye out for the agent asshole files, coming soon.

Not to justify my word choice, but the actions of assholes and some fundamentalists seem one in the same. Thus, the word choice.

I don't claim perfection or being right all the time. I'm often wrong.

But still...if given the opportunity to have a decent conversation with an evangelical of this stripe, I'd probably use the "asshole" word in describing their demeaning tactics towards people in general.

B,
Let them have cake and be happy with it,

1/3 cup butter, melted
3 eggs
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup white wheat flour PLUS
1 tablespoon white wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
***TOPPING***
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Turn this recipe into a puzzle! [click]
Directions:
Butter a cake pan. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Beat the eggs, sugar and vanilla until the mixture whitens. Add the melted butter and mix well.

Sift the flour and baking powder together and gently add to the previous mixture. Pour in the prepared pan and bake 10 to 12 minutes. Meanwhile prepare the topping. Melt the butter on medium heat. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Pour the topping gently on the cake and return it to the oven for another 15 to 20 minutes.
NOTE; Turn down the oven 25deg after the topping goes on, pop the bubble a couple of min after you put it in.

Enjoy
Vaughn

when Jesus said "brood of vipers" he said it to their face...and was dealing with them in that way for a reason to an end.

if you want to call someone a name...it should be to their face, and for a reason to glorify God.

is this really what God wants for you to do?

what is your mission?

#1. we are commanded to Love God

#2. we are commanded to Love one another.

commands

we are not Jesus.
Jesus had a mission.
we belong to God because of Jesus
through Jesus

we are to walk in the Spirit

i love you as a brother in Christ.

i do not want for you to think about your last few posts on your web page...i would like you to think about your life in God.

Nancy -

I think my "mission" is well stated throughout the two and a half years of this blog, as well as in the profile link and on the sidebar (Evang-e-dropping mission specifics).

But in a nutshell: try to love people who are different than me.

WAIT AGENT B! Aren't you not loving those evangelicals by calling them "asshole"?

No. I have no hatred for them. I do have a healthy disdain for the religious who belittle and disrepsect those who jesus misses most (ie: the lost).

Is that "love one another" command suppose to mean love other christians only? or others in general? I opt for others in general.

Please Nancy, I'm not a fan of the abusive & controlling tactics many christians behold like your last statement. But for your sake, my "life in god" is grand. I love it and all is well. Not that it's anyone's business...

I no longer care if you disagree.

Your comments in the past months always come across misguided. As if you think you know who I am and where I'm coming from.

I think my heart is revealed throughout this blog. So maybe you're not reading very closely or you have assumptions about me that are incorrect.

Let it rest.

Your internet acquaintance,

B

and glad to know things are well.
it is obvious that i do not understand where you are coming from. and i can see you view it as none of my business or concern.

it was not my intension to abuse or control you.
i will not only let it rest.
i will let it go.

i am truly sorry that i have bothered you and it will not happen again.

God's love to you
and your family

i woke up thinking of you and your blog and me this morning. it seems that i was doing the same thing that i did not understand in you.

i find it funny that i was looking at you and concentrating on you looking and concentrating on someone else. i was looking at a Christian looking at another Christian wondering how you could be so hard on them and not looking at yourself and how you were being toward them...and here i was a Christian looking at another Christian and not looking at myself and how i was being. i do not know if you can find any humor in this...but, i am learning and am now looking at myself and how i am projecting love to others...non believers as well as believers. i love you my wonderful blog acquaintance! i love you...and even more important than that...God Loves you!

may i have some pork steak?!

wahooooo!

i just love you soooo much!
God bless you!

Nancy :-)

Apology accepted, or possibly, not necessary. But very kind of you to offer so thanks for the kind words.

Please, don't let this silly blog make you lose sleep or anything.

In one swift click, I can delete the whole thing into cyber-whatever forever and ever. It's not that overly important to me.

Thanks again and take care.

Nancy,

Can you answer me this,

Why it is some Christians will say all the horrible things to others. Stab them in the back over pennies, or simple disagreements, then back peddle and spout the God bless you this and love that.

Seems very hypocritical, and self righteous to say the least.

I read through several of your posts, and the other sites that have been mentioned over the past couple of weeks.

It’s all the same, hate and mouth, followed by the God shield thrown up to thwart off the retort of others. It’s like the real bad driver that expects everyone to get out of the way because they ride with a bible on the dashboard.

In order to lead others or show them the true meaning of what the mythical book teaches.
You must be able to truly accept everyone for whom or what they are.

Even a lowly Celt such as me knows that.

Leanne, YES the cake is great, just be sure to have a cookie pan under the cake pan in the oven

Vaughn,

See, I was thinking more along the lines of someone MAKING the cake and then giving me a piece or two.

*grins*

You know, I can find MANY areas in life where I "cookie sheet under the cake pan in the oven" could be very useful indeed.

;)
