evang-e-droppings #008

The tract collecting has not faded away. Unless I receive instructions from headquarters to stop, I have yet to cease this operation.

This week’s collection was dismally low (22) compared to last week’s record of 61. But the low number was overshadowed by the $20 bill I found. Who says that being a secret agent doesn’t pay.

There’s been a new assortment of tracts lately. All of them seem to follow a 10 commandments schtick, ie: what laws have you broken lately?

Last week after collecting the 61 tracts, I spent a good bit of time with Little Wing who wandered through the area. Too bad he wasn’t around today. I might have shared the $20 with him.

I like Little Wing, even though he constantly refers to himself as “we” and rarely makes sense. But sometimes I think that’s because I’m not smart enough to understand him. Once I asked him what he had been doing lately and he said something like, “We’re trying to figure out the subtle inconsistencies of black versus white within the red, white, and blue.”

Too deep for me.

Still convinced we believers in Jesus are suppose to deliver people from demons, I asked Little Wing if he wished he could stop hearing the voices in his head. He said yes, he’d like them to stop. So I offered to ask my god to take them away and he graciously accepted.

So we prayed. And he was thankful for the praying. And I don’t know if anything happened.

Maybe next time.

but you did it, B, and that's what really matters.

Glad to hear about the $20 showing up in your work. I am thinking about starting an Evange-e-droppings operation here in Chi-Town, but I need to first figure out where the droppings are most likely to be found.

I am also glad to hear about your praying for Little Wing. I have found that people can be very receiptive to being prayed for, but that most peopel just don't ask/offer.

One question I did have, Agent B, and I hope that you don't take this as an attack, because it isn't meant to be. Do you believe that mental illness is demonic in nature? Again, not an attack...just a sincere question.

Thanks!

Hi Lainie.

Mental illness = demonic nature? Answer: I don't know.

Admittedly, my last church experience was pentecostal/charismatic. So that lingo still lingers with me. Sorry.

I am not an expert on anything. But if James is correct ("all good & perfect things are from god"), then I'd assume all crappy things are not from god. Are therefore we have to deal with them, I guess. That includes my own former mental illness (manic depression) that I was healed of 12 years ago.

All the best to you.

I cannot believe that a church actually put a cop pointing a gun on their "spritual" tract. Who in the heck is that going to attract?!? Regular, normal people are already scared of cops without looking down a barrel on in the name of God. Poor police officers and God.

JF: yeah, chritian tracts are pretty stupid on a variety of levels.

...too big a list to post now.

Can I ask a really stupid question?

How did you find the sites where there are the most droppings? Was it just a matter of observation? Did someone tell you where the tract passers were most active?

I know this sounds really dumb, but I'd like to do the same here in Chi-Town but don't have a clue as to where to start.

The particular site I go to was found on accident. If you care to read those details they are here.

But locally, the crew that passes out these tracts religiously (quasi pun-like wording was intentional) are infamous here in the fair mother city. And their leader and I have a brief history together (we were ordained in the same church service together). So finding them was not hard.

I emailed him anonymously seeking out more info to their schedule. I assumed they visited all night clubs but discovered they only visit this one plus the mall every week.

I'm sure somewhere in the Chicago area some over-zealous church group employs drive-by evangelism. Try some web searches.

Or maybe interview some: club owners, bar owners, porn shop owners, etc.

If that doesn't help, email me and I'll give you a web site to one of these groups in Lubbock. They probably have connections to some Chicago cohorts.

And if I were you, don't tell them your intentions. You'll be targeted for debates...

is this in the agent code book?
